Well, a little known fact of course is that Zeno, the guy who thought up the basis of what we now think of as the Stoicism, and Epicurus, dated for a while. They met through a mutual friend who set them up for whatever the 3rd Century BC equivalent to a coffee date would be (olives and feta cheese perhaps). They sort of hit it off right away, yakking about ontological paradoxes and stuff. Hours and hours they spent debating the nature of life, the universe, and feta cheese. In the end though, I think it was Zeno's inability to just let his work go and come to bed that ruined it.
