Recently experiencing the empty nest syndrome, Georgia born and raised, transplanted for almost 40 years, to Texas. Miss my involvement with the performing arts (Broadway, Opera, Symphony, Road Shows) where I worked in our family business, before having to return to Georgia to coordinate the care of my mother who is in a nursing facitlty. I really miss working and being out and about. Residing in a rural area outside a small town (sure nuf Elm Street USA ..if there ever was one), I don't have much opportunity to socialize. I rescue abandoned animals, and have too many, but cannot bring myself to part with even one, unless I find a good adoption opportunity for it. I am working on breeding a minature bobtail cat, which I have bred down to about 1/2 size or smaller, and have a waiting list of prospects wanting animals. I enjoy growing things and continually have fresh flowers, mostly roses, in the house. On hot afternoons, I can be found sitting on a rock cooling off, in the river that runs around my property.
Recently my grandson, whose father passed away when he was 11 months old and I raised, turned 21 and moved into his own place. This has resulted in my suffering from the empty nest syndrome.... not knowing what to do with myself, and not being able to deal with the loneliness.
I am rather shy and retiring when meeting new friends. Over the years I have been in a couple of relationships, each of which, lasted a number of years. Describing myself, I would say I am a one person...person...sincere and dedicated.
This social networking thing is new to me and I have most likely said too much or not enough....it would be nice to meet someone to share and sped time with....
Not that I can remember
Nope
It takes me some time to reach the point to where I am comfortable with strangers.

There is not much one person can do, but I probably contribute less than 80% of the US population to the problem.

I prefer to be independent and think our country would be much better off if the political parties were left outside the halls of government, when the politicians went to work. There is something wrong with my statement, because politician and work cannot be used in the same sentence.
