The Essay

Who am I?

I grew up thinking talking about one's self is not nice. I was always told it's vanity to talk about yourself. Hehe. Anyway...

who am I? Am I my interests? Am I what I do for work? Am I some of my experiences? Am I what I feel? Am I how I look? Well.. whatever I am, I am not philosophical. :)

Physical details : I am 31. 5' 10", lean, slim, toned. brown eye, short black hair. (does it really matter?). smooth.

Work : very educated, professional, have a good career that I like. Stable. Travel some for work but not a whole lot, yet.

interests :
I like dancing. I have been dancing forever. Started training when I was 10. THough I stopped for a while (which I really regret now) I have gotten back to dancing. I am happy when I dancing. That is the closest I ever feel to eternal bliss. I do flamenco and indian classical.
I also like surfing, but I don't surf as much as i used to. I volunteer a lot. Used to be on the board of an organization that is dear to me. Like to watch movies, mostly independent, artsy, foreign, some hollywood, bollywood. Like to read. My ex got me into Opera and though I haven't seen many I love them. Really like to travel. Been to some cool places too. Hiking - once in a while. Camping once or twice a year. Spending time with my friends and nephews. I like to cook - mostly indian. Hope you like spices. hehe. Like to stay in shape and stay active. Work out. go to parks, beaches.

Other random stuff about me : I am mature (most of the times, haha). Definitely simple, low maintenance. Out to family and friends.

What am I looking for? (in a guy)

Maturity. Honesty. no pretense. someone active. respects himself and others. varied interests. ... list goes on. hehe. Come on. I do not think there is a set of requirements. oh.. the guys that usually catch my eyes (this is entirely physical, remember that, because when you first see someone that's all you can see) are tall, lean, lighter skinned than me. But again it is not written in stone.

I am a vegetarian. But you don't need to be one. Infact I cooked chicken for my ex.

Also, I live and work in SJ. But looking for a place for weekends in SF. SO I am pretty open to meet up guys all over bay area.

The Lovetastic Interview
Where would you rather be right now?

Where would I rather be right now? Gosh... I was gonna go country western dancing tonight but couldn't. So I'd like to be there right now I guess. Wouldn't mind to be with my sisters, mother, nieces too. I have been missing them a lot more lately.

What books are near you at the moment?

I have had Chares dickens' great expectations on my side table for 6 months now. I read it half way through. Did not like it much. Well.. if it helps, I liked the movie version of it - the one with Gwenneth and Ethan Hawke. (but that's mostly because of Ethan Hawke) haha.
I like to read a lot. These days it's mostly magazines - National geographic, scientific american, discover, NG traveler, NG adventurer...

"Life is a comedy to those who think and a tragedy to those who feel." Is life a comedy or a tragedy to you?

haha. That sound like something a-trans-friend-of-mine would say. (he moved away to much of all our relief hehe)

For me life is both comedy and tragedy. I don't mean I make fun of life and sad at it. I mean it more like, life is both happiness and not-so-happiness (let's not call it sadness) at the same time. Not-so-happy moments make you appreciate the happiness more. And they make you stronger.

How do you get along with your mother?

haha. Pretty good. I am a pisces and my mom is a virgo (heheh yes) so we have our differences but I admire a her lot.

Have you ever seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight in a theater?

No.. I haven't and wouldn't. Not unless there is a guy holding me while I watch something like that.

Do you subscribe to the old-school top/bottom dichotomy?

haha.. I knew this question is hiding some place. This is the conversation I would have on the second date (that is if you are lucky enough to get there) hehe.

Do you like your work?

Yes, I like my work very much. I love it sometimes, like it most of the times and don't like it rest of the times (but it's a small %). I have always been in Tech since I graduated but I have changed my career within Tech twice.

Have you ever been in a fist fight?

yeah.. the last time was when I was in 5th grade, I think. Wait, or was it just yesterday? DOn't remember. I was intoxicated. ahhaha. Just kidding.
